On 5 September 2026, COUSIN Partner Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) participated in AgroSemana 2026 – Feira Agrícola do Norte, held at Espaço AGROS in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal.

Through a dedicated stand, UCP presented several ongoing projects contributing to more sustainable, resilient, and biodiverse food systems. COUSIN was showcased through conversations about the importance of crop wild relatives and the opportunities created by integrating this diversity into breeding, cultivation, and commercial food systems.

The activity enabled UCP to engage directly with farmers, producers, researchers, agri-food professionals, and members of the public. These conversations provided an important opportunity to communicate COUSIN’s objectives in an accessible way and to better understand stakeholders’ perspectives on crop diversity and agricultural sustainability.

Marta Vasconcelos also participated as an invited speaker in the seminar organized by IDARN. During the panel “Diversify and Cultivate: Strategies for More Sustainable Agriculture”, she presented research projects addressing agricultural diversification and sustainability, including COUSIN.

AgroSemana is an annual agricultural fair that brings together stakeholders from across the agri-food system and the wider public, making it a valuable setting for project dissemination and engagement with the agricultural community.
