On 11 September 2025, a group of eight postdoctoral researchers from the University of Aarhus, Denmark visited Nordic Seed to learn more about our ongoing scientific projects and breeding programs.
The COUSIN project and the efforts of the Danish partner to identify resistance genes to control pea root rot (Aphanomyces euteiches) were presented. There was a very good discussion about using crop wild relatives in breeding, and on the future of pea breeding for human consumption.
In this context, the COUSIN project animation videos were very helpful in presenting the main ideas and challenges involved in using wild relatives in breeding.
The visit was planned outside of the participants’ normal educational needs and was therefore purely for scientific interest. We also had a very good discussion about future breeding for peas intended for human consumption.
